Yesterday I promised you frameworks that work.

Here's the first one.

My 9-year-old asked me something last month that stopped me cold:

"Dad, what's the point of learning stuff if AI can just do it?"

There it is. The question every child will ask. Most parents fumble it — they either dismiss it ("Just do your homework") or panic ("AI is coming for your job!").

Both are wrong.

Here's what I told him:

"AI is like a tractor. A tractor doesn't replace farmers — it replaces farmers who can't use tractors. The question isn't 'what can I do that AI can't.' The question is 'what can I do WITH AI that nobody else is doing.'"

His eyes lit up. He got it.

Then I asked him a question back:

"If you had a tractor for your brain, what would you build?"

He spent the next hour telling me about underwater cities and how AI could help design them. He wasn't scared anymore. He was curious.

The Framework: Tractors, Not Terminators

Every time technology comes up, reframe it as a tool:

• "AI is a thinking tractor."
• "Robotics is a doing tractor."
• "The internet is a knowing tractor."

Then ask: What would YOU build with it?

This shifts them from fear to ownership. From helplessness to agency.

Let me tell you about the worst version of my family.

Two years ago, we were four humans in the same house, staring at four different screens. My boys were irritable. My wife was exhausted. I was "present" but not really there.

We had all the technology. We had none of the connection.

Sound familiar?

Here's what changed everything: The Saturday Protocol.

Every Saturday morning, before anyone touches a screen, we do two hours outside. Non-negotiable. Rain, snow, whatever. Two hours in nature before the digital world exists.

It started rough. The kids complained. I complained (silently). But by week three, something shifted.

My 7-year-old started noticing birds. My 9-year-old started asking questions about trees. My wife and I started actually talking — not coordinating, TALKING.

And here's the strange part: when screen time came, they didn't want as much of it.

Nature wasn't competing with technology. It was resetting their baseline. Making them human again so they could use technology instead of being used by it.

Why This Works (The Science)

Screens trigger dopamine spikes and crashes. Nature triggers steady serotonin. When you start the day with nature, you're building from a stable foundation instead of chasing hits.

Your kids aren't addicted to screens. They're dopamine-starved. Nature is the medicine.

Your Assignment:

This Saturday: Two hours outside before screens. Don't negotiate. Don't explain. Just do it.
